It was more than 5 years ago that we originally featured the destination known as The American Riviera, and many of our show fans/follower likely also recall Santa Barbara was a location that we brought the program for a big “Let’s Go America! Tour” and live remote broadcast in November 2021.  A lot has happened in the area since our original 2018 “Destination Spotlight” as well as our visit in 2021, so we decided to check-in with Visit Santa Barbara CEO Kathy Janega-Dykes during the live broadcast of America’s #1 Travel Radio Show on 3 February 2024.  From discussing what helps make the city a great Valentine’s destination, to taking up the surrounding wine country, charming State Street, its historic pier, the revitalized and inviting “Funk Zone” and even the culinary scene — although our conversation was short, we certainly covered a lot together.

Now that our popular national program has been transmitted via satellite across the USA to our 575 weekly stations airing RMWorldTravel with Robert & Mary Carey and Rudy Maxa, you can access the audio archive in .mp3 format by simply clicking on the play arrow that follows this text…

For this latest “Destination Spotlight” — #34, we turn our attention to 31st State in the nation and the city of Santa Barbara, CA.  On 10 November 2018, the CEO of Visit Santa Barbara, Kathy Janega-Dykes, joined us to share news on the flurry of new hotels and resorts available for visitors, the thriving wine scene and how this quaint and relaxing location attracts so many families, couples, group travel and others.  It’s an easy drive or train ride from Los Angeles and a good place for a weekend getaway.  During the interview we discussed the diverse neighborhoods, museums, restaurants, outdoor activities, the plentiful shopping opportunities along State Street and of course the beautiful waterfront and the fun it delivers.  You can hear this interview here …
