April 27th 1822 was the day America’s #18th President, Ulysses S. Grant, was born in America’s 17th State — Ohio.  Perhaps best known as the lead general of the Union during the American Civil War, he served as President from 1869-1877.

After leaving office, President Grant and his wife Julia earned their “Travel Power Couple” credentials from May 1877 to September 1879, traveling on a diplomatic world tour that spanned 19 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America, making them the first president and first lady to experience such a global journey and widespread honors.

Today, President Grant and Julia are responsible for a family that includes 41 Great, Great Grandchildren, with the youngest being Ulysses Grant Dietz.  Ulysses Dietz is the Vice-President of the Ulysses S. Grant Association and is accomplished in his own rights having served for years as Chief Curator for the Newark Museum of Arts in New Jersey.

To recognize the 143rd year since the birth of Ulysses S. Grant, and one day before Ulysses Grant Dietz was set to speak at Grant’s Tomb in New York City for the occasion, we caught-up with him for a conversation that mixed history, travel, art, family and more for the latest “Personal Connection” segment of the show.

Now that April 26th 2025 live broadcast has transmitted over the satellite and aired across the USA via our 600+ weekly radio stations that are affiliated with RMWorldTravel with Robert & Mary Carey and Rudy Maxa, you can access the interview again that’s been archived here by clicking the play arrow immediately following this text …
