The reaction to our special “Let’s Go America! Tour” has been wonderful to see, feel, hear and experience — and with a number of stops still ahead it’s already exceeded expectations!  Stop #6 is the most special location to us, as Maui is where we spent part of our honeymoon 25 years ago — and although we’ve returned a number of times since — spending time on Maui never gets old and just feels natural to us!

For the 2 October 2021 broadcast of America’s #1 Travel Radio Show, Stop #6 on RMWorldTravel’s special “Let’s Go America! Tour” brought us back to Maui and the Waldorf-Astoria Grand Wailea Resort.  Week-after-week we’re proud to be able to positively impact more than 1 million leisure and business travelers via our popular national broadcast that’s heard on 480+ weekly stations plus other platforms — allowing us the opportunity to truly focus on “Everything & Anything in the World of Travel”…

As with the previous stops on this tour, our ambition is to do our part to invest in the industry that we love and help get people more comfortable being back out there with their own travels in meaningful ways — while promoting safe, responsible and engaging travel.  The quality of our broadcasts, married with the richness and diversity of the show content consistently delivers compelling radio that is connecting with so many show fans across the country — keeping them coming back for more!

We kicked off the national tour back in May 2021 at the Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia as Stop #1, then it was Newport RI for Stop #2 in June — the all-new Legoland New York / Orange County NY was Stop #3 in July, Chicago was Stop #4 that included celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Palmer House in August, then we moved on to Washington, DC for Stop #5 to respectfully commemorate 9/11 in September.  And for October it was Maui for Stop #6.

Although the visit spans 16 days, our first week and the week of the broadcast brought us to a wide cross section of Maui.  Tourism, over tourism in particular and its impact on the locals is a hotly debated topics these days on the island — and it was important to us that we feature the culture, the history and the positive ways that tourism benefits Maui.  That’s why in addition to featuring the Managing Director of the Waldorf-Astoria Grand Wailea Resort JP Oliver in our Showcase Segment as his property is ideal for any type of traveler — we also took our listeners to the MauiGrown Coffee farm to visit with its owner James “Kimo” Falconer, allowing our show fans the opportunity to enjoy a taste of Maui without actually being on the island.  We also ventured out to the Waihe Coastal Dunes and Wetland Refuge to connect with Dr. Scott Fisher, who shared the importance of this land and positive ways visitors can join him and the Hawaiian Land Trust in responsibly restoring and preserving it.  Rachael McCrory shared the top-notch spa and all that’s offered to guests of the Grand Wailea, our local affiliates on Maui (AM 1110 & FM 96.7 KAOI) and Oahu (AM 690 & FM 94.3 KHNR) joined us for the popular “National Communal Forum” to report on their respective island to the nation, Tom Pohaku talked all things surf, tradition and spreading the Hawaiian way, Show Friend and 4x Grammy Award Winning Slack Key Guitarist George Kahumoku performed throughout the show, Kalei Uwekoolani, who’s responsible for cultural programs at the Grand Wailea expressed thoughts on finding balance between the Hawaiian culture and tourism, plus we also heard from Laurel McKenzie, the lead Park Ranger at Haleakalā National Park about the types of hikes and astronomy programs available to visitors.  There was all that and a lot more during “The Fastest 2 Hours in Travel” — so if you missed the show for any reason, you can enjoy it now anytime/anywhere…
