Regular listeners and show fans know that our hosts Robert & Mary Carey have a love and passion for islands, beaches and the water.  That’s likely the case for many of you as well…  Have you ever spent time thinking about where the sand on the beaches comes from?  Or how the many beaches that we’re blessed to have here in the U.S. are maintained?  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is to thank for most of our fortified sandy coastlines nationwide.

During the recent big “Let’s Go America! Tour” – Virginia Beach, Robert & Mary saw first-hand the substantial beach replenishment project that’s happened there and they learned nearly 1 Billion cubic yards of sand had been deposited by the Army Corps between 15th and 45th Street…

That experience led to the RMWorldTravel team contacting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and during the live national broadcast of America’s #1 Travel Radio Show on 21 June 2025, Amanda Tritinger joined The Careys via the show hotline to discuss specifics of this important role carried out to safeguard communities and provide beautiful beaches for travelers.
