It was during our live national broadcast of America’s #1 Travel Radio Show back on November 11th 2023 that we first connected with Caribbean Tourism Secretary General, Dona Regis-Prosper — just a few months after she took on the role.  Fast forward to our September 7th 2024 live national broadcast — essentially 10 months later — and we decided it was time for a check-in.

Connecting with Dona from the Cayman Islands for this conversation, as she finished-up their State of the Tourism Industry conference in Grand Cayman, she shared some of her take-aways from the conference as well as offering insights on current trends and realities happening with Caribbean Tourism.  During the discussion we addressed the continued growth of air lift to the islands, the importance of the cruise industry and all the choices/options it provides to travelers, as well as the warmth and friendliness of locals and how they help make Caribbean travel different than what you’ll find in other places around the world.

Three months ago in September 2023, a new direction with new energy was brought to Caribbean Tourism, as Dona Regis-Prosper became its new Secretary General.

A native St. Lucian, Dona and has enjoyed success across multiple areas of the travel/tourism sectors involving Caribbean Tourism, including serving as General Manager of Antigua’s Cruise Port, as Director of Business Development with Margaritaville Caribbean Group, CEO of the Cruise Port of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, she’s worked with the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority and elsewhere.

With November being “Caribbean Tourism Month” we invited Dona to join us on America’s #1 Travel Radio Show to discuss her new role, some of the areas of Caribbean travel/tourism that have her current attention, get her thoughts on air service and cruise operations involving the islands and more.
