Anchorage, Alaska is a city in our nation unlike any other.  Have you been?  Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, you’ll find a welcoming community filled with trails, wildlife, flowers and glaciers.  Anchorage enjoys nicknames like Anchortown, The City of Lights & Flowers as well as Air Crossroads of The World.  It’s the largest city in our 49th State, that was admitted to the Union back in 1959, and is a center-point for most things happening in Alaska.

As said on-air, 5 years, 3 months and 14 days have passed since we last featured the area during “Destination Spotlight #43” back on our April 6th 2019 live broadcast.  With the Summer cruise season happening and knowing the interest and intrigue with Anchorage, we decided to check-in with their Tourism CEO Julie Saupe during our live national broadcast of America’s #1 Travel Radio Show on July 20th 2024 for “Destination Spotlight #128”.

From discussing the wide-ranging culture, food, shopping and range of outdoor activities awaiting visitors — we shared an engaging conversation all designed to educate, entice and empower you to go experience Anchorage yourself!  Now that the program has been transmitted via satellite and aired across the USA via our 585+ weekly radio stations that broadcast RMWorldTravel with Robert & Mary Carey and Rudy Maxa, you can access the interview again that’s been archived here by clicking on the play arrow immediately following this text …

The popular “Destination Spotlight” series continues to move along, and each location we focus on has been personally visited by Robert & Mary.  They are lesser know places worthy of your travels that you may not know as much about as we think you should, or perhaps they’re not the first place or two that you think of for traveling.  For the 43rd “Destination Spotlight” episode we turned our attention to Alaska and the city of Anchorage.  If you seek a different type of trip that combines beautiful views, outdoor adventure, friendly people, outstanding seafood, and activities of all types in the city or within short distances away — we encourage you to consider Anchorage.  In many ways you’ll feel like you’re stepping back to a simpler, more comfortable life — but with all the modern conveniences found anywhere in America.  On 6 April 2019, Julie Saupe, the CEO of Visit Anchorage joined us to share some thoughts on her home city and what makes it a special place for travelers.  You can hear the full interview that aired across our network of 400 RMWorldTravel affiliates, now archived on our website here …
