“Personal Connection” Series – MJ Eberhart
MJ “Sunny” Eberhart
Adventurer / Hiker / World Record Holder
What’s the longest or most grueling hike you’ve ever taken in your life? How did you fare? For MJ Eberhart, outdoor adventure is nothing new — but at 83 he decided to take on an impressive challenge and hike the entire Appalachian Trail. To make this ambition even harder he didn’t start at Springer Mountain in Georgia — instead he began where the Appalachian Mountains begin at the Pinhoti and Flagg Mountain in Alabama. It took MJ 9 months to accomplish his feat in 2021, resulting in him becoming the oldest person to hike the entire Appalachian Trail (and then some)! For our “Personal Connection” segment during our live broadcast on 2 April 2022 of America’s #1 Travel Radio Show, we caught-up with MJ to hear about his travels, what drove him to take on this journey and some of what he learned/experienced along the way.
