Rhode Island may be the smallest state in our nation, but it’s far from the least populated and Newport is where it all started.  There is more to do, see and enjoy in Newport than many places around the country — and if you’ve never experienced Newport, Rhode Island — we encourage you to plan a visit.

Certainly most travelers know New York City, Orlando, Las Vegas, Nashville, Miami and some others if they’re planning a getaway — but Newport, Rhode Island is the type of location that our show hosts Robert & Mary Carey envisioned showcasing when they created the “Destination Spotlight” segment back in April 2017.  Simply put, it’s a lesser known destination that they say is absolutely worthy of your travel dollars!

It was back in June 2021, as the nation was emerging from the pandemic that Robert & Mary took the program to the “City by the Sea” or “Sailing Capital of the World” if you prefer, for a big “Let’s Go America! Tour” week of events and live remote broadcast.  You have to go back even further to when they first featured Newport during this segment of the show — August 24th 2019…  That all changed during our live national broadcast of America’s #1 Travel Radio Show on September 21st 2024, when the long-time CEO of Discover Newport, Evan Smith, checked-in to discuss some new happenings in the city, share thoughts on the just ended Summer season, and opine on many of the activities that help attract travelers to Newport and keep them coming back for more.

Now that the program has been transmitted via satellite and aired across the USA via our 585+ weekly radio stations that broadcast RMWorldTravel with Robert & Mary Carey and Rudy Maxa, you can access the full interview again that’s been archived here by clicking on the play arrow immediately following this text …

For Destination Spotlight #51 in our long-running series, during the live broadcast of America’s #1 Travel Radio Show on 24 August 2019, we turned our attention to this fun coastal city, that’s located in the 13th state and was admitted to the union way back in 1790.  From the historic Mansions along Bellevue Avenue, to the Tennis Hall of Fame, Fort Adams that dates back to 1799, multiple long sandy beaches, an abundance of seafood and popular restaurants, quaint B&B’s, and unmistakeable architecture — if you enjoy boating then Newport is also your place as it’s known as the “Sailing Capital of the World.”  You can hear the full interview with Discover Newport’s CEO Evan Smith that aired across our national network of 410+ RMWorldTravel with Robert & Mary Carey and Rudy Maxa radio affiliates, and now archived on our website here …
