“Personal Connection” – Jonny Beardmore
If you’ve been to the Galapagos Island of Floreana, then you likely know about the “stampless postal box” that’s been engaging travelers since 1793. If you haven’t it might be worth planning your next adventure there. In short, there is no post office on the island so travelers take letters, postcards and related mail addressed by others to people in other countries (most frequently near where they live) and hand deliver it to the addressee. Fun, right?
Well Jonny Beardmore took this tradition a lot more seriously and decided to take 50 letters to “Reconnect The World, One Letter At A Time!” And he did it with a mission to raise awareness for ALS in the memory of his Dad, who suffered from the disease that took away the ability to travel, connect and communicate…
During our latest “Personal Connection” and live national broadcast of America’s #1 Travel Radio Show on August 17th, 2024 — we caught-up with Jonny while he was in the U.K. to hear first-hand about his Galapagos Postman Challenge and get a report on the current status of delivering all 50 letters around the globe.
