Travel, adventure and ancestry often intertwine when we travel — and for Stephen and Robert Cocuzzo it was all of that and more. Together this father and son decided to fulfill a lifelong ambition to discover their family roots in Italy — so they packed their bags in Massachusetts, flew to Florence and began a 425 mile biking journey to San Donato Val di Comino, an ancient village hidden in the Apennine mountains from where their family emigrated to America a hundred years ago. Despite the challenges they faced, their story is an inspiring bond between father and son, discovering lost “cousins,” history and culture — all mixed with the exhilaration of traveling by bicycle across the Italian countryside.
